The design of this stylish Antique Victorian
Arts and Crafts Desk Chair is attributed to E W Godwin and
probably manufactured by James Peddle, a firm of cabinet makers in
London. A similar chair is illustrated in 'The Secular Furniture of
E.W Godwin' by Susan Soros (page 131 fig: 178)
The chair is made from quarter cut oak with a shaped
bar and slat back, curved arms with turned supports.
The padded seat is a generous 20 inches wide and has
recently been re-upholstered in a deep chestnut coloured hide.
This is a very stylish and comfortable antique desk
chair with a fully functioning swivel mechanism and stands on four
shaped legs with brass castors.
