Antique English Fusee Dial Clock Rivers and Son, Cornhill
London.
Circa 1840. Our Reference SN428
A good quality antique fusee dial clock with a slim
turned mahogany surround. It has brass four pillar movement with shaped
shoulders and anchor escapement.
This very attractive antique clock with 12 inch painted
enamel dial. The white enamel background and blue steel hands are
original to the clock. It has a cast brass bezel, set with the original
lock and key and a domed glass.
The detachable box, which encloses the movement, is
held in by wooded pegs and has three inspection doors, one to each
side and one to the base.
The door in the base is cock beaded with the original
lock. The box and the wooden surround to the dial are made from very
good quality timbers with good colour and figuring to the bowed base,
which extend 1cm (5/8") below the dial.
The clock has a brass pendulum which we believe is original
and 3 contemporary keys. The box has a pine back board where there
is evidence of some old, long extinct woodworm, and has the three
original brass loops for attaching the clock to the wall.
This is a very good quality antique fusee dial clock
in good working order and is a very good example of its type.

The movement has been professionally cleaned and restored recently.
