Victorian Arts and Crafts Oak Library Chair, circa 1880

A Large Victorian Arts and Crafts Oak Library Chair c1880

More Images.

This large, top quality Aesthetic period, chair would make a very impressive desk chair or library chair in a traditional period office or an Arts and Crafts or even contemporary setting. It is very stylish and substantially made chair with a rich brown patina and newly upholstered in a quality brown hide which replicates the original covering.

It has a beautifully carved top rail with a design of scrolling leaves and tulips. The back supports also have leaf carved capitals and the padded back has carved roundels to either side.
The padded and sprung seat is very comfortable and generously sized and the back panel and arms are also padded. The arms have turned supports and the front legs are also turned with the original brass and ceramic castors. The stretchers are also very decoratively turned.
