This
pair of Victorian chairs are made with the best quality mahogany timbers.
The chairs have very elegant sinuously curved backs in a style know
as 'crown back' serpentine seat rails and cabriole legs.
They are very substantially made and elegantly designed with attractively
curving arms supported by cabriole supports with scrolling ends. The
chairs have generally sized padded seats which have recently been
upholstered in a dark tan hide.
It
is rare to find a pair of chairs from this period with no evidence
of damage or repairs and of such a substantial size. We believe the
chairs to have been specially commissioned as the size is most unusual
for this type of chair. The lovely deep rich brown finish is original
and years of polishing had developed a rich patina.
