A rare and good quality example of a George
lll mahogany partners desk with the attention to detail typical of
this period.
This most attractive and well proportioned antique
desk is made in 3 sections .It has 2 pedestals with 3 drawers on one
side and a cupboard on the other. These can be arranged with one pedestal
of drawers and one cupboard on each side or drawers on one side and
cupboards on the other.
The desk top also has 3 drawers on each side of
the top. The deep green leather writing surface is decorated with
a gilt tooled boarder. All drawers are oak lined and cock beaded.
The desk stands on plinth bases with brass capped
corners.All drawers and cupboards are fitted with working locks and
brass handles with an urn embossed oval back plate with a wreath design
oval pull.
There is a beaded panel to the exterior of the pedestals. As an antique
partners desk it is of course finished all round and designed to be
freestanding in a room and does not need to placed against a wall.
