A Beautiful Antique Mahogany
Pedestal Desk Recently Restored and in Excellent Condition.
This very good quality early 20th century mahogany desk has
very good proportions and particularly well figured mahogany with
a most attractive deep colour and well patinated surface.
It retains its original black leather writing surface with gilt and
blind tooling which is surrounded by a band of well figured mahogany
with a molded and rounded edge. To either side of the desk top are
a pair of concealed writing slides which also retain their original
leather writing surface. This type of extending writing surface is
typical of French desks of style.
The top is fitted with three drawers and each pedestal has three
drawers. The drawers are well constructed with ogee moulded fronts,
oak linings, working locks, with keys and brass ring pull handles.
The pedestals stand on plinth bases with small bun feet. There is
a fitted vanity board between the pedestals at the rear of the desk.
This desk is a very attractive colour and is designed
to be free standing being polished all round. As will all pedestal
desks it is constructed in three sections for ease of installation.
This attractive mahogany desk is a good size and
would make a handsome center piece in a traditional, classic or contemporary
styled office or study.
