A well proportioned good quality antique desk
from the mid 19th century with beautiful matched 'flame' mahogany
veneers to the drawer fronts and the sides.
The desk has a very attractive
patina which enhances the flame mahogany veneers giving it a lovely
rich colour.
This very attractive antique desk
has a slightly worn green hide writing surface with gilt and blind
tooling. This is surrounded by a band of mahogany with thumb molded
edge and rounded corners.
The top is fitted with 2 very deep drawers with brass
locks, cock beaded edges and turned wooded knobs. The left hand drawer
is fitted with dividers to section it into 4 equal parts.
This is
a very unusual feature in any antique desk. The pedestals are each
fitted with three drawers and each drawer has a removable divider
sectioning the drawer into two compartments.
The pedestals have rounded corners to the front of the desk and
concealed castors beneath the plinth bases.
As with all antique pedestal desks it is made in three sections
for ease of movement and installation.
