A good quality well proportioned antique oak
partners desk from the last quarter of the 19th century with
ornate brass handles. This handsome oak desk has a rich golden colour
and a good patina appropriate to a desk of this period.
It has a dark olive green leather writing surface with
gilt and blind tooling surrounded by a 3 inch band of oak with moulded
edge. Both sides of the top are fitted with 3 drawers.
The drawers have mahogany linings, hand cut dovetail
joints and are finished with ogee moulding's brass locks and original,
cast brass, aesthetic style handles. We have replaced two handles
to a central drawer with good quality, brass, hand made copies.
The pedestals are fitted with three drawers to the front
and with cupboards to the reverse which unusually are both fitted
with folio slots. The pedestals stand on plinth bases with hidden
castors.
As with all pedestal desks it is made in three sections
with the top separate from the pedestals for ease of movement and
installation.
