A well presented antique
mahogany desk from the latter part of the 19th century. The
top has a burgundy leather writing surface with gilt and blind tooling
surrounded by a cross-banded mahogany border, a thumb moulded edge
with rounded corners.
The top is fitted with three drawers with hand cut dovetails,
mahogany linings and turned wooden knobs.
The pedestals are each fitted with three drawers and
have plinth bases with hidden brass and ceramic castors.
This very attractive antique desk is polished all round
so can be used as a free-standing piece.
As with most pedestal desks, it is made in three sections,
top and two pedestals, for ease of installation and assembly.
