An antique George 1st style oak pedestal desk made
from solid oak and constructed in the traditional English manner.
The timbers used in this antique desk are of the best
quality with attractive figuring and distressed to produced an aged
appearance.
The top is fitted with an olive green writing leather
with gilt and blind tooling. This is surrounded by a 3½ inch
band of solid oak with a bull nosed moulded edge.
There are three drawers fitted to the top and three
drawers to each pedestal all with ash linings, ogee moldings to
the front and the original turned knobs. The top three drawers each
have locks and original keys. The pedestals have paneled sides and
backs.
The desk is constructed in three sections for ease
of movement and it stands on bracket feet. The pedestals are of
a frame construction which are pegged together in the traditional
manner of making oak furniture.
This attractive antique oak pedestal desk has the
original finish which, over time, has developed an attractive patina.
This desk would look good in a traditional setting such as a cottage
or room with oak furniture.
