This top quality oak drum library table combines both
Gothic and Aesthetic design elements. It has 4 oak lined drawers with
the makers stamp inside E.T Morris, Darlington Street, Wolverhampton,
(England). The makers stamp also appears under the base.
Library tables of this period are very rare and this table has
been manufacture to a very high standard. This handsome table has
recently been sympathetically restored allowing the beautiful deep
brown oak figuring to shine through.
The writing surface has being fitted with a brown
hide with gilt tooling surrounded by a stringing of ebony and bordered
by quarter cut oak with attractive figuring.
The freeze is fitted with four lockable drawers alternating with
dummy drawer fronts, with the original brass, Gothic style handles
and escutcheons. The drawers are made with oak linings and dovetail
construction.
The top stands on four Aesthetic styled turned legs,
with concealed castors under bun feet, supported by a substantial
cross stretcher with central turning.The table is a lovely rich deep brown oak colour and
would make an excellent center piece for a large hall, bay window
or library/office.
