A Good quality large antique Victorian mahogany
partners table, circa 1860.
All the timbers used in this table are well figured with a beautiful
rich patina. It has a new black hide writing surface with gilt and
blind tooling. The leather is surrounded by a three inch band of
mahogany with a 'bulls nose edge' and rounded corners.
The frieze is fitted with three drawers to each side. The drawers
are mahogany lined, with hand cut dovetails, original locks with
circular brass escutcheons (one replacement lock) and keys.
The drawer fronts have ogee mouldings and turned wooden knobs.
One of the end drawers has the original divisions used to organize
writing equipment, which is very rare to find.
The table stands on very striking turned octagonal legs with the
original brass cup castors.
Tables of this type size and type are becoming increasingly rare
and this is a good example which has been professionally and sympathetically
restored.
