Early 20th Century Walnut Side Table or Writing Table More
images This very attractive English Queen Anne Walnut Table has been recently restored and the re-polishing has revealed the exceptional quality of the figured timbers. The table was made at the beginning of the 20th century when classic furniture styles from the early 18th century were fashionable. The table has been cabinet made in the same manner as the original would have been with attention to detail that makes that makes this early English furniture so desirable. The quality of this piece can be seen in the beautiful veneer work, the cross and feather banding, the brass work and the cabinet work. The top of this beautiful walnut table has quarter veneered figured walnut surrounded by a feather banding, cross banding and a cross grained moulded edge. Below are fitted three drawers, all oak lined with hand cut dovetails, steel locks with key and brass handles and escutcheons. The drawer fronts have highly decorated veneers and are 'cock beaded' with cross and feather banding. The table has a shaped frieze with cock beaded edge and stands on bold cabriole legs with shell carved knees and pad feet. The table is polished all round so can be used as a free standing piece. It has a most attractive honey coloured patina and of a very serviceable size. Date: circa 1920 Dimensions: Reference Number: SN504 SOLD
