A
very good quality oak four drawer library table with a tan antique finish
leather writing surface with gilt and blind tooling. This is surrounded
by a band of burr oak and a thumb moulded edge with attractive rounded
corners.
The
frieze is fitted with two pairs of opposing drawers to the length. These
are oak lined, with hand cut dovetails, burr oak veneers to the fronts
and brass handles. The working locks are original to the desk and are
embossed with the royal cipher; "Royal Letters Patent" the
manufactures details of Lingham Birmingham.
The
table stands on four turned legs with the original brass and white ceramic
castors, stamped 'Collinson' patent.
The
table has a very attractive deep rich brown patina and is a very serviceable
size.
