Antique Mahogany Writing Table in the Manner of Gillows.

This very good quality William 1V writing table has a good 'Country House' look. It is made from the best quality mahogany timbers in the early 19th century style of the famous English furniture makers 'Gillows' of Lancaster.

This attractive antique writing table has a beautiful polished top showing the quality of the mahogany and richness of colour. The top is surrounded by a 3 inch gallery to the back and sides and has a reeded edge.

The 5 draws that surround the kneehole are mahogany lined with hand cut dovetail joints. They have egg and dart mouldings and the original turned mahogany handles (one being a replacement). The central draw is also fitted with the original lock.

The writing table has lovely rounded edges to the front sides and stands on 4 turned and fluted legs with brass cup castors.

This antique writing table has been recently sympathetically restored would make a very attractive and useful writing desk or occasional table.
