Antique Satinwood and Marquetry Open Armchair

Date: circa 1890

Reference: SN677

This beautiful fine quality antique armchair is made from satinwood* inlaid into mahogany. A great deal of skill and care has been employed in the manufacture of this lovely chair designed in the Georgian style of the late 18th century. The back of the chair is inlaid with various woods and pen-work to depict an urn with foliage swags. Below this is a superbly made open lattice back panel inlaid with tiny florets.
The sweeping arms are inlaid with ebony stringing and terminate at the seat in turned and fluted supports.
