Large Antique Georgian Mahogany Partners Desk
An early 19th century mahogany partners desk, fitted with 18 drawers and deep enough for two people sharing.
It has a very lovely even colour throughout and a handsome looking desk with plenty of storage.
The desk has recently been professionally cleaned and polished and
retains an old light tan hide writing surface with blind and gilt tooling.
If you would like no obligation quote for a new writing hide fitted in virtually any colour, please ask.
The leather is surrounded by a cross band of figured mahogany with a 'bull nose' moulded edge.
The top is fitted with three drawers to the front and reverse and both pedestals have three drawers front and back.
The drawers have brass locks, cock beaded front edges and old replacement embossed brass handles.
They are oak lined with hand cut dovetail joints, except for the central drawers
on the top which have been relined in pine at some time in the past.
The desk is constructed in tree sections for ease of installation and the pedestals stand on bracket feet.
Desks from this period and of this size are becoming increasingly rare and this is a very handsome example.
